DF Young has a long history serving
the Food Aid and Humanitarian cargo community. In fact, DF Young
is one of the oldest companies serving this segment of the business
from several of their office locations.
The company's involvement in this specialized area of international
transportation dates back to the early 1940s when DF Young first
helped secure lower rates and efficient transportation for Private
Voluntary Organizations (PVOs). Today, DF Young is capable of
managing all aspects of Food Aid and Humanitarian cargo shipments,
from issuing public tenders through to final delivery at port
and inland destinations worldwide. As a privately-owned, fully
licensed Freight Forwarder, DF Young works directly with the
PVO, meeting their diverse and specialized needs.
Religious and civic groups worldwide participate in the U.S.
government-funded "Food for Peace" and "Food for
Progress" programs. DF Young functions as the export arm
for Private Voluntary Organizations and PL-480 Title II program
participants.
The company interacts with the U.S. Department of Agriculture
(USDA) to effectuate Food Aid cargo moves internationally. Whether
cargo is destined for Indonesia, Haiti, Kosovo, N. Korea, Siberia,
Ethopia, Sudan or other areas the world, DF Young treats each
shipment with special care to ensure timely delivery to those
in need.
Modern technology has helped pave the way for expediting international
shipments day and night. Using email and telecommunications,
DF Young is able to stay in contact with its clients 24-hours
a day, crossing time zones and distant borders to achieve results.
Accurate computer record keeping, complete documentation and
logistics problem solving are key elements of DF Young's service.
